Perceived benefits of defined start and finish for intense play

  • If intense play takes place away say for a weekend or week then there is no need for context switching. The experience can be totally immersive. The chance to really live and embody the things that have been discussed.
  • Space afterwards for processing, particularly if thoughts/feelings are not really known at the time (during the immersion).
  • Doesn’t become singular focus/ all consuming and being a distraction from the rest of vanilla life.
  • Allows for lighter interactions and play between intense times, more structured and predictable.
  • Lengths of intense play can be varied according to availability.
  • This format works even when not living locally to each other. Gives a focal point and something to look forward to… particularly ringfenced time away together.
  • If it works well.. could experiment with longer periods of higher intensity/ intense play depending on circumstances and what is going to be explored during that time i.e. weeks or more.
